
Point Park Cross Country to Compete at Carnegie Mellon Invitational
PITTSBURGH – The Point Park men's and women's cross country teams will compete in their final meet before the Mountain East Conference Championship on Saturday afternoon at the 22nd Annual Carnegie Mellon Invitational. The event will be held at the Oval Sportsplex at Schenley Park in Pittsburgh.
The men's 8k race is set for 10 a.m., followed by the women's 5k at 10:45 a.m.

Women's Storylines
- The Point Park women are coming off a second-place finish at the Greater Louisville Classic last Saturday. Ursuline topped the leaderboard at the event (79 points), followed by Point Park (104) and Indiana East (126).
- Cassondra O'Connor finished first in the event's silver race with a time of 18:37.0. The 5k time was the fastest of any MEC runner last week, which led to MEC Runner of the Week accolades for O'Connor on Monday afternoon.
- O'Connor is now a two-time MEC Runner of the Week (9/16, 10/7).
- Additionally, O'Connor's time on Saturday was her second-fastest of the season, as well as her second first-place finish of the fall.
- Allison Plassio was the second PPU runner to cross the finish line in Louisville, placing 16th (19:56.5). Lotte Zethof finished in 28th place with a time of 20:26.1, while Corinne Lee-Houser finished just outside the top 30 with a time of 20:29.1.
- In four events this fall, the Point Park women's cross country team has placed sixth or better at each event, headlined by their second-place finish at the Louisville Classic.
Men's Storylines
- The Point Park men's cross country team finished third at the Greater Louisville Classic last Saturday, finishing behind William Carey (67) and Indianapolis (84) on the team leaderboard. PPU scored 112 points at the event.
- Sophomore Luke McKenna highlighted the afternoon for the Pioneers with a fifth-place individual finish (25:28.7).
- Freshman Albin Petschauer was the second Pioneers to cross the finish line in 25th place (27:09.3), while Jannik Windelband finished 35th with a time of 27.28.1.
- McKenna has recorded the two fastest 8k times in program history this season. He turned in a time of 25:47.2 at the Robert Morris Invitational and improved the time to 25:18.8 at the Lock Haven Invitational.
- In four meets this fall, the men's cross country team has turned in three Top 10 finishes, headlined by a third-place finish at the Greater Louisville Classic. The Pioneers also finished fourth at the West Liberty Invitational.

Following Saturday's CMU Invitational, the Point Park cross country teams will prepare to compete in their first-ever Mountain East Conference Championship, which is set for Saturday, Oct. 26 at Oglebay Resort in Wheeling, West Virginia.
