The 2024-25 Point Park Athletics Medical Packet must be completed by all Point Park student-athletes who wish to compete this year. Please return the completed medical packet no later than August 1, 2024 to athletictrainers@pointpark.edu
Please note that student-athletes must obtain a physical on their own.
Please note that all Point Park student-athletes must have health insurance in order to partcipate in athletics. Information about health insurance is included in the Point Park University Student-Athlete Medical Packet at the PDF link above. All student-athletes must either enroll in Point Park's Student Health Insurance or waive the insurance if they can show proof of insurance that meets the University requirements needed for a student-athlete.
OVERVIEW OF ATHLETIC TRAINING SERVICES
The Point Park athletic department employs certified athletic trainers from UPMC Sports Medicine, which has the largest staff of certified athletic trainers in the Pittsburgh area. They work with the Pioneers' student-athletes on a daily basis. Point Park's athletic trainers staff every home event and every practice session.
In addition to athletic trainers and physicians, every Point Park student-athlete has access to UPMC Sports Medicine's team of experts. UPMC Sports Medicine offers an extensive list of programs and services that allow athletes to reach peak performance.
Those services include access to doctors, nutritionists and sport psychologists in addition to services related to sport-specific assessment and enhancement, injury prevention, rehabilitation and concussion management. UPMC Sports Medicine's ImPACT concussion management center is stationed in Pittsburgh.
As part of the partnership with UPMC Sports Medicine, Point Park student-athletes have access to important technologies like X-Rays and MRIs at various UPMC facilities.
FACTS ABOUT UPMC SPORTS MEDICINE
The staff at UPMC Sports Medicine is responsible for providing athletic training services for eight universities and nearly 50 high schools in the Pittsburgh area. UPMC Sports Medicine has offered a complete range of athletic training services to western Pennsylvania for more than 20 years. It focuses not only on rehabilitation, but on injury prevention and performance development of athletes.

Morgan joined the Athletic Training staff full time at the end of 2021 after previously being a student athletic trainer at Point Park while she was pursuing her degrees at Chatham University. She earned her undergraduate degree in kinesiology and exercise science before earning a master's degree in athletic training.
Patrick Steidle

Patrick joined Point Park's athletic training in August 2022. He came to Point Park after many years as an athletic trainer for the Pittsburgh Penguins in the NHL. He was apart of three Stanley Cup titles during his time with the Penguins. He has also spent time in professional baseball and as athletic trainer.
Carli Eger

Carli joined Point Park's athletic training staff in August 2022. She is a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh where she worked with multiple Panthers teams while earning her degree. Carli was a part of several successful athletic teams during her time at Pitt and brings that experience to Point Park. She also earned her degree in healthcare administration from West Liberty University.
INFORMATION FOR VISITING TEAMS
TEAMS THAT VISIT POINT PARK FOR ATHLETIC EVENTS WILL RECEIVE THE FOLLOWING ATHLETIC-TRAINING SERVICES
- Certified athletic trainer on site
- Taping and stretching available prior start of game
- Ice will be available
- AED will be on site
- Emergency response systems will be in place including access to EMS personnel and/or hospitals
- Note: Teams are instructed to bring their own medical kits.
The Point Park University athletic department will be going green this year. The “Go Green” sustainability effort will serve to reduce waste on our campus and playing fields as well as increase the awareness of the importance of sustainability and to become more environmentally friendly. As part of the initiative, Point Park University will no longer supply water cups at our competitions and sporting events. We are asking that teams visiting Point Park University and its athletic venues, to bring their own water bottles to game sites. We will provide water coolers for teams to fill up their water bottles prior to, during and after games.
