About Us -- Point Park University Athletics

Point Park University Athletics is a provisional member of the National Collegiate Athletics Association (NCAA) and the Mountain East Conference (MEC).

The Pioneers sponsor 17 varsity sports that compete intercollegiate level. Athletic scholarships are awarded to student-athletes as allowed by the NCAA.

Point Park University announced that it was accepted by the NCAA for provisional membership in DII beginning on July 11, 2024. The Pioneers were previously a member of the NAIA for more than 50 years. The school was founded in 1933, and the Pioneers became members of the NAIA in 1967. As a NAIA school, Point Park has won numerous conference championships and has been represented at many NAIA National Championship events.

Point Park is a member of the Mountain East Conference, which is comprised of 11 members in three different states: West Virginia, Maryland, and now Pennsylvania. Point Park joined the MEC in July of 2024 following the acceptance of Point Park for provisional membership by the NCAA.
