
O'Connor Leads Women's Cross Country Team at Robert Morris Invitational
CLINTON, Pa. – The Point Park women's cross country team finished sixth at the Robert Morris Colonial Invitational on Saturday in Clinton, Pa.
Cassondra O'Connor led the Pioneers for the second-consecutive meet, as the freshman placed 13th in the race that featured programs from NCAA Division I, II and III. O'Connor's time of 18:29.2 ranks in the Top 5 in program history for 5k races.
Jana Schmid (19:14.1) was the second Point Park runner to cross the finish line in 32nd place, followed by Sophia Lee-Hauser (19:31.6) in 43rd and Corinne Lee Hauser (20:00.0) in 60th.
Walsh (32 points) took first place in the team standings, followed by Robert Morris (53), Carnegie Mellon (65), Duquesne (114) and Mount Union (132).
West Virginia University's Madison Trippett (16:50.05) took first place in the women's 5k, followed by Robert Morris' Samantha Hennen and Walsh's Claire Rethman in the top three.
Point Park will return to competition on Saturday, Sept. 28 at the 23rd annual Lock Haven Cross Country Invitational. The women's race is set for 11 a.m. at the West Branch Course in Lock Haven.
