
Point Park Volleyball Picks Up Home Win Over Salem
PITTSBURGH – Point Park tallied 23 services aces and had a 6-2 blocking advantage in Tuesday's 3-1 victory over Salem University in non-conference play at the PPU Student Center.
Point Park (4-11, 2-3 MEC) took set one 25-13 before falling in set two by a 25-17 margin. The Pioneers closed out the match with a 25-14 and 25-22 victory in the third and fourth sets.
Giulia Follador led the Pioneers on the attack with nine kills and five service aces. Rachele Tessari chipped in eight kills. Eden McElhaney had to slide into the setter position on Tuesday night and finished the match with 28 assists, four aces and two blocks. Mia Arndt had 14 total digs.
Patricia Calero-Irizarry (5) and Ana Baruh Krstic (3) led the Pioneers in total blocks in the win.
Point Park outhit Salem .182-to-.133 in the match, with the Pioneers limiting their attack errors to just 14 on the evening.
MaKenna Long led Salem with 13 kills and 11 digs in the match. Noemi Combi finished the match with nine kills.
Point Park travels to Concord on Friday night for an MEC matchup against the Mountain Lions. The first serve is set for 7 p.m. at the Carter Center.
