Pioneers Drop Four-Setter at Fairmont State

FAIRMONT, W.Va. – Point Park dropped a four-set road match to Fairmont State on Friday evening in Mountain East Conference play at Joe Retton Arena.

The Pioneers opened the match with a 27-25 win in set one, before following in the next three sets by scores of 25-17, 25-13 and 25-16.

Point Park slipped to 3-11 overall and 2-3 in conference play following Friday's result. Fairmont State moved to 13-6 overall and 3-1 in league play. The Falcons are currently tied for first in the MEC North Division.

Giulia Follador led Point Park with 15 kills and eight digs in the match. Eden McElhaney added 13 kills and 14 digs. Haley Stormer had a big night in the middle with six kills and four total blocks.

Elise Wallace passed out 36 assists from her setter position, while PPU libero Mia Arndt finished with a team-high 15 digs.

Fairmont State outhit Point Park by a .352-to-.162 margin.

Baylie Ostvig finished the evening with 21 kills to lead the Falcons. Adella Rodriguez recorded a double-double with 14 kills and 13 digs. Josie Skinn also had 13 digs.

Point Park returns home to host Salem in non-conference play on Tuesday evening. First serve is set for 7 p.m.
