Point Park Faces Road Test at Fairmont State

PITTSBURGH – The Point Park volleyball team will remain on the road to face Fairmont State on Friday evening in Mountain East Conference play at Joe Retton Arena. Friday will be Fairmont State's "Dig Pink" match.

Point Park currently has a 3-10 overall record and sits at 2-2 in MEC play this season. After starting conference play with a 2-0 mark, the Pioneers have dropped back-to-back matches against Wheeling (3-0) and West Liberty (3-1). Fairmont State enters the match with a record of 12-6 (2-1 MEC).

Storylines

  • In Tuesday's setback against West Liberty, Point Park got a team-high 16 kills and 13 digs from Giulia Follador. Eden McElhaney also recorded a double-double with 11 kills and 14 digs.
  • Elise Wallace passed out 41 assists to guide the PPU offensive attack.
  • Mia Arndt led the Pioneers in the back row with 15 digs in the match.
  • For the season, McElhaney is leading Point Park with 122 kills and 146 digs. Giulia Follador is second on the team in kills with 115 this season.
  • Additionally, Rachele Tessari ranks third on the team with 91 kills and leads the Pioneers with a .123 attacking percentage.
  • Arndt is second on the team in digs (145) from her libero position.
  • Patricia Calero-Irizarry (26) and Haley Stormer (25) are leading the Pioneers in blocks this season.
  • Following Friday's road match at Fairmont State, Point Park will return home to take on Salem University on Tuesday, Oct. 15. First serve is set for 7 p.m.
