Point Park Drops Road Match at West Liberty

WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. – After picking up a 25-23 victory in the first set, Point Park fell 3-1 to West Liberty in a Mountain East Conference road match on Tuesday evening at the ASRC. The Hilltoppers won the final three sets by scores of 25-13, 25-20 and 25-20.

The Pioneers fell to 3-10 overall and 2-2 in league play following the loss. West Liberty is now 7-10 overall and 2-1 in the MEC.

Point Park got double-double performances from Giulia Follador and Eden McElhaney in the match. Follador finished the evening with 16 kills and 13 digs, while McElhaney drove home 11 kills and 14 digs. Haley Stormer also chipped in five kills and a pair of solo blocks for the Pioneer offense.

Elise Wallace finished the evening with 41 assists from her setter position. Defensively, Mia Arndt led the Pioneers with a team-high 15 digs.

Statistically, West Liberty held a 13-6 advantage in total blocks and a 7-3 edge in service aces. The Hilltoppers also hit .203 on the attack.

Kyia White finished with a team-high 15 kills for West Liberty. Riley Cudnik also chipped in 11 kills and 10 total blocks.

Point Park will return to action on Friday night at Fairmont State. First serve is set for 7 p.m. at Joe Retton Arena.
