
Point Park Drops Non-Conference Match at UPJ
JOHNSTOWN, Pa. – Pitt-Johnstown picked up a 3-0 victory over Point Park on Tuesday evening at the Sports Center (25-23, 25-16, 25-15).
With the victory, UPJ improved to 12-1 on the season. Point Park fell to 1-8.
UPJ hit .274 with 39 kills and 13 errors in the match, compared to 21 kills and 22 errors from Point Park on the attack. Both teams recorded five blocks in the match.
Point Park held an advantage from the service line, holding a 10-6 edge in aces.
Giulia Follador recorded a match-high five kills for Point Park, while Eden McElhaney chipped in four kills and seven digs.
Rachelle Tessari finished the evening with a team-high 11 digs while also driving home four kills. Mia Arndt also reached double-digit digs with 10.
Elise Wallace passed out 19 assists in the match.
Lualis Alvarado and Mallory Pinske recorded nine kills apiece to lead the Mountain Cats in the win. Gabriella DeRenzo tallied 17 digs on the UPJ backline.
Point Park will now open Mountain East Conference play against Davis & Elkins on Thursday night in Pittsburgh. The home match is set for 7 p.m.
