Pioneers fall at WVU Tech to begin River States Conference road weekend

BECKLEY, W.Va. -- Point Park University volleyball started its River States Conference road weekend with a 3-0 loss at WVU Tech on Friday night. The Pioneers (2-4, 0-1 RSC) will look to bounce back on Saturday after a loss of 25-16, 25-19, 25-19 to the Golden Bears (6-8, 2-0 RSC). Point Park's weekend continues at Alice Lloyd (Ky.) on Saturday at 12:00 p.m.

WVU Tech had some key runs in the middle of each set to gain separation on the scoreboard. Point Park had a 10-9 lead in the first, but four straight points swung things to the Golden Bears, 13-9. They later opened up a 21-13 lead.

The Pioneers ran into some errors to go down 12-6 in the second. They were within 21-18 later in the set but could not come all the way back. WVU Tech had six kills in a row to build a key lead of 16-8 in the third. That was enough for the Golden Bears to go on to the sweep.
