
Meet Recap: Point Park Women's Outdoor T&F at WVU Stan Romanoski Open
MORGANTOWN, W.Va. -- Point Park University women's track and field had its second outdoor meet of the season when it went to the WVU Stan Romanoski Open on Saturday. The Pioneers competed in cold and blustery conditions as the outdoor schedule wore on.
Hurdles were a standout for the Pioneers. In the 100 hurdles, Natalea Hillen took second place with a time of 14.88 seconds. Emma Roemer was right behind in third place with a PR of 15.10 seconds.
The 400 hurdles had three Point Park finishers in the Top 10 with Diamond Rush placing fifth at 1:11 followed by Luchama Lubin ninth and Karen Rios 10th at 1:16 and 1:17, respectively.
Rush had another Top 10 in the 400 meters placing seventh at 1:02.18. Emma Roemer was just outside the Top 10 in the 200 meters taking 11th at 27.22 seconds for her second PR of the meet.
Lubin, who did four events, led Point Park in the 100 meters with a time of 14.83 seconds.
Nyla Rozier made her debut in the high jump placing sixth with a clearance of 1.43 meters. Another dual sport athlete on the women's basketball team led Point Park in the long jump with that being Emma Pavelek. She went 4.49 meters for 16th place. Lubin ran a distance of 4.27 in the long.
Pavelek also led the Pioneers in the javelin throwing 25.47 meters for 22nd place. The Pioneers also had Lina Single throw 26.42 meters and Hannah Bond 24.73 meters. Single was the top Point Park thrower in the discus with a distance of 25.47 meters, the best of her freshman season and career.
The steeple chase was conducted at half the usual distance with Corinne Lee-Hauser covering the 1,500-meter steeple in 6:04. That placed 15th in the race.
In the 800 meters, Jana Schmid was the top performer for Point Park coming in at 2:23 for 13th place. Olivia Hare ran 2:29 for 22nd place.
The Pioneers will be in the Carnegie Mellon Invitational on March 29-30 for their next meet.
