
Point Park women compete at SPIRE Indoor Games to prepare for RSC Championship
GENEVA, Ohio -- Point Park University women's indoor track and field competed at the SPIRE Indoor Collegiate Games on Saturday, Feb. 10. In their final preparations for the RSC Indoor Track & Field Championships next weekend, the Pioneers had many team members get in events for the final time, mainly on the track.
Point Park got a chance to run the distance-medley relay and took third with the team of Olivia Hare, Diamond Rush, Jana Schmid and Allison Plassio posting the top time in the RSC. They had a time of 12:35.42, which was just over 5 seconds off the NAIA national qualifying standard.
Plassio's day also included her lowering her No. 1-ranked RSC time for the 800 meters. She ran a time of 2:20.46 for a PR and 10th place at SPIRE.
Karen Rios had another Top 10 taking eighth in the 600 meters. She had a time of 1:47.34.
RaKeya Ellsberry led the Pioneers in the 60 meters with a time of 8.22 seconds. The 200 meters had Natalea Hillen come in at 26.47 seconds. Hannah Bond was Point Park's top performer in the 400 meters at 1:03.56.
Hillen was 14th in the 60-meter hurdles to lead Point Park. She had a time of 9.11 with Bond at 10.54.
The Pioneers had a pair of PRs in the mile with Cassondra O'Connor running 5:32.25 and teammate Corinne Lee-Hauser 5:38.24.
More PRs from the distance group came in the 3,000 meters with Sophia Lee-Hauser (11:11) getting one along with Mya Jackson (14:22) and Amanda Lisotto (13:26) in between.
Luchama Lubin competed in the triple jump along with the 60 hurdles. She had a distance of 10.10 meters in the triple jump to get closer to her PR.
Point Park will be going for its seventh straight women's title at the RSC Indoor Track & Field Championships next Saturday, Feb. 17 at the Chieftain Center in Logan, Ohio. The Pioneers have won all six RSC indoor crowns since the meet was established in 2018.
