Point Park Falls to Fairmont State at Highmark Stadium

PITTSBURGH – Fairmont State picked up its fourth win of the season with a 3-0 win over Point Park on Wednesday evening at Highmark Stadium.

Following the setback, Point Park falls to 0-4-2 overall and 0-3-1 in league play. Fairmont State improves to 4-1-1 overall and 3-0-0 in MEC matches.

Fairmont State got on the scoreboard in the 10th minute with an unassisted goal by Arrington Sparks. The score remained the same until the 57th minute when Tatiana Mayumi found the back of the net early in the second half.

With under three minutes remaining, Calloway Segeleon wrapped up the scoring with an unassisted goal in the 87th minute.

Fairmont State held a 14-7 advantage in total shots, including a 6-3 edge in shots on goal.

Point Park's first scoring opportunity came in the 18th minute on a shot by Vanessa Vazquez that was turned away by Olivia Johnston in the FSU goal.

In the 51st minute, Jamie Spurrell put a shot on goal that was once against turned away by Johnston.

With under nine minutes remaining, Gillianne Stewardson put another PPU shot on goal, with Johnston recording her third save of the evening.

Frederieke Rijlaarsdam made the start in the Point Park goal and made three saves in the game.

Point Park will travel to Salem University on Sunday at 1:30 p.m. for a non-conference matchup.
