Women's Soccer Opens Home Portion of Schedule on Saturday Against West Liberty

PITTSBURGH – The Point Park women's soccer team will host West Liberty University in its 2024 home opener on Saturday afternoon at Highmark Stadium. The 2024 Homecoming Game is set for an 11 a.m. kickoff as part of a men's and women's doubleheader.

Storylines

  • After beginning the season with four-consecutive road games, the Pioneers will open the home portion of its schedule on Saturday at Highmark Stadium.
  • The Pioneers come into Saturday's game with a record of 0-3-1 (0-2-0 MEC). After battling to a 1-1 draw against Carnegie Mellon on Thursday, Sept. 12, the Pioneers have dropped back-to-back conference games against Wheeling University (2-0) and Frostburg State (3-1).
  • West Liberty comes into Saturday's game with a record of 1-3 (0-1 MEC). After dropping their first three games of the season, the Hilltoppers defeated Salem, 9-1, on Wednesday evening on the road. WLU dropped its MEC opener against Fairmont State, 5-1, back on Sept. 15.
  • The Pioneers have scored two goals this season. Sterre Kuijper found the back of the net in Point Park's draw against Carnegie Mellon, while Gillianne Stewardson netted PPU's goal against Frostburg State on Wednesday.
  • Analida Ampudia has Point Park's only assist of the season.
  • Stewardson has a team-high five shots for the Pioneers, while Paula Sole has three.
  • Maggie Pappas has been the primary goalkeeper for Point Park this season. She has allowed six goals while turning away 12 saves this season. She has a 2.40 goals-against average and a .667 saves percentage this season. Reese Cauthen and Frederieke Rijlaarsdam have also earned minutes in goal this season for the Pioneers.
  • Following Saturday's Homecoming Game, Point Park will remain at home to host Fairmont State on Wednesday evening at Highmark Stadium. Kickoff is set for 5 p.m.
