Frostburg State Tops Point Park On The Road

FROSTBURG, Md. – Frostburg State jumped out to a 3-0 halftime lead before settling for a 3-1 victory over Point Park on Wednesday evening at Bobcat Stadium.

The Bobcats got on the scoreboard early when Mollie Rebuck netted an unassisted goal in the 11th minute of the first half. Frostburg State went ahead 2-0 in the 30th minute when Jayme Rebuck found the back of the net with an assist from Catherine Smith.

FSU added its third first-half goal in the 34th minute when Cassidy Paide set up a goal by Carly Gillette.

Point Park got on the scoreboard in the 55th minute when Gillianne Stewardson scored with an assist from Analida Ampudia.

Statistically, Frostburg State held a 15-5 advantage in total shots, including a 6-2 edge in shots on goal. The Bobcats also had an 8-3 advantage in corner kicks.

In addition to Stewardson's goal, Point Park's Mireya Rojas also had a scoring opportunity in the game.

After beginning the season with four-consecutive road games, the Pioneer women's soccer team will return home on Saturday for Homecoming 2024. Kickoff is set for 11 a.m. from Highmark Stadium as Point Park hosts West Liberty in MEC play.
