Pioneer Women's Soccer Travels to Carnegie Mellon on Thursday

PITTSBURGH – The Point Park women's soccer team will continue non-conference play against Carnegie Mellon on Thursday at the CMU Soccer Field in Pittsburgh.

Point Park comes into the game with a record of 0-1, while Carnegie Mellon currently has a record of 2-0-1.

Point Park Storylines

- Point Park dropped its season opener against Walsh, 2-0, on Monday evening on the road.

- Walsh held a 15-5 advantage in total shots, including a 6-4 advantage in on-target shots.

- Four Pioneers recorded shots on goal against Walsh, including Gillianne Stewardson, Tatum Lucero, Paula Sole and Jamie Spurrell.

- Point Park split time in goal during Monday evening's opener against Walsh. Reese Cauthen made the start and recorded three saves in the first half, while Maggie Pappas played the final 45 minutes and made one save.

- After battling to a scoreless draw against Messiah in its season opener, Carnegie Mellon has won back-to-back games against William Smith (4-1) and Westminster (2-0).

- Cecelia Dieterich is leading CMU with one goal and two assists through three games this season. Six different players have scored goals for the Tartans. CMU goalkeeper Abby O'Connor has two shutouts and has given up just one goal this season.

- Following Thursday's non-conference matchup, Point Park will begin Mountain East Conference play on Sunday, Sept. 15 at Wheeling University. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. at Bishop Schmitt Stadium. Point Park checked-in at No. 4 in the MEC North Division Poll, while Wheeling was slotted fifth.
