Point Park women compete at RSC Golf Championship

FINAL LEADERBOARD

FLORENCE, Ind. -- Point Park University women's golf competed in the 2023 River States Conference Championship held over three days at Belterra Golf Course. The Pioneers battled through 54 holes on a tough setup at the casino resort.

With the average score for the tournament above 90 all three days and coming in at 92.98 for the tournament, it was a challeging obstacle for the field of 39 players and eight teams.

Nonetheless, Point Park was able to improve its team score each day and battle it out until the end. Point Park placed seventh in their first conference championship since head coach Gabe Bubon came back to take over the programs again.

Senior Olivia Stawovy finished strong with an 85 in the final round. That put her in 23rd place for the championship. There were only six rounds in the 70s for the entire tournament, and Stawovy's mid-80s effort was one of the better scores on the last day.

Returning veterans Megan Locke and Darian Lees competed in another conference championship event while freshmen Julia Goetz and Marissa Moriconi got their first chance to compete at the RSC level. The Pioneers move ahead to next year building off the experience gained.

Brandi Jones from IU Kokomo was the medalist as the only player to shoot two rounds in the 70s on the week. She finished with rounds of 78 and 79 over the final two days to take the victory and earn individual qualification to the NAIA National Championship.

Indiana University East won the team title followed by Midway (Ky.) University in second and Indiana University Kokomo in third.
