Point Park Men's Cross Country Takes 4th at CMU Invitational

PITTSBURGH – The Point Park men's cross country team finished fourth at Saturday morning's Carnegie Mellon Invitational at Schenley Park in Downtown Pittsburgh.

Luke McKenna led the Pioneers with a third-place individual finish, turning in a time of 25:34.4 in the 8k race. Saturday's time of 25:34.4 is McKenna's second-fastest of the season.

Jannik Windelband was the second PPU runner to cross the finish line in 21st place with a time of 26:37.8. Elijah James finished 34th with a time of 27:22.7.

Carnegie Mellon (34) topped the men's leaderboard at the CMU Invitational, followed by West Virginia Wesleyan (72) and California (PA) (118) in second and third ahead of Point Park's 135 points to finish fourth.

Cal U's Noah Bernarding finished in first place in the race with a time of 25:07.2, while Wesleyan's Anthony Sanders finished second (25:31.8).

The Pioneers will now have two weeks to prepare for the 2024 MEC Cross Country Championship, which is set for Saturday, Oct. 26 at Oglebay Resort in Wheeling, West Virginia. The men's 8k is slated for 9:30 a.m.
