McKenna, O'Connor Take MEC Runner of the Week Honors

BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. - Point Park's Luke McKenna and Cassondra O'Connor were honored as the Mountain East Conference's Cross Country Runners of the Week, the league announced on Monday afternoon. The MEC Player of the Week awards are presented by The Health Plan.

McKenna, a sophomore from Lexington, S.C., finished 14th overall to lead the Pioneers at Saturday's Robert Morris Invitational. His time of 25:47.2 set a school record at the 8K distance and was his second Top 15 finish of the season. He finished fourth at the West Liberty Invitational back on Sept. 5.

O'Connor, a sophomore from South Park, Pa., was the top Point Park finisher for the second straight week, placing 13th overall in a strong women's field at the RMU Invitational. Her time of 18:29.2 ranks fourth all-time at Point Park for the 5K distance. O'Connor now has two Top 15 finishes this season, after finishing first at the West Liberty Invitational back on Sept. 5.

McKenna, O'Connor and men's soccer's Nils Benning are the first Mountain East Conference weekly award recipients in Point Park history.
