
Meet Info: Point Park XC at NAIA Great Lakes Challenge Oct. 21 (Grand Rapids, Mich.)
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- The Point Park University men's and women's cross country teams are competing Oct. 21 at the NAIA Great Lakes Challenge in Grand Rapids, Mich., The 15th-annual event is hosted by NAIA school Aquinas (Mich.) and is one of the marquee events on the NAIA cross country calendar.
The Pioneers teams are competing in their final pre-conference tuneup before the RSC Championships Nov. 4 hosted by Midway (Ky.) University. Both Point Park teams were seeded into the Maroon Race in Grand Rapids, which is the faster of the two races being held on the day.
There will be a total of 40 NAIA schools representing 10 different NAIA conferences in attendance. It is a talented field of schools with 15 men's teams currently ranked in the NAIA Top 25 and 13 women's squads in the Top 25 or receiving votes. There will be approximately 1,000 runners competing in the four races -- two men's and two women's -- throughout the day.
The Point Park men's team kicks things off in the Men's Maroon Race at 10:00 a.m. ET. The Women's Maroon Race will follow at 11:00 a.m. ET. There will be some men's individuals for Point Park who will run the Men's White Race at 11:45 a.m. ET.
The Point Park teams are one of four RSC schools to be in the Maroon Races. Men's and women's teams from Shawnee State (Ohio), IU East and IU Kokomo are in those races as well. RSC schools competing in the White Races will be Oakland City (Ind.), Ohio Christian and IUPUC.
