Graduated from Elizabeth Forward high school class of 88. Where he wrestled, and was the captain of the track team . Walsh threw the shot putt , Javelin and the discus.
Right out of high school, Walsh served his country in the United States Army becoming a combat veteran. After serving his country, Walsh moved back to Elizabeth Forward where he started his 27 year coaching career.
In 1997 Walsh was a volunteer Javelin coach at Elizabeth Forward until 2002.
Got hired at EF as their new throwing coach. 5 years later he took over at EF as the head coach and throwing coach. That year he started his USATF WEEKEND WARRIOR THROWING TEAM.
After coaching at EF, Walsh came to Point Park University 5 years ago.
Coaching on the high school level, he coached a thrower to states 13 years in a row. At that time, Walsh had multiple WPIAL & PIAA CHAMPIONS and medalist.
With his USATF TEAM. he had many regional and national medalist every year in all throwing events and 4 national javelin champions .
When Walsh got to Point Park, the closet was bare for equipment and throwers so I brought my equipment from home and point park signed my athlete that was the runner up state champion, Daniel Jacobs, and together, started to grow the program.
Since then, Head T&F Coach. Coach Creamer has givin them the equipment and the recruits to continue growing the throwing program here at Point Park from many conference champions and medalist in the throws to 2 seasons ago the javelin team was rated 2nd in the nation and last year, the javelin team was 1st in the nation, with multiple national medalists.
And coming this year, Walsh has a male weigh thrower that is ranked 1st in the nation and a male two year All-American javelin thrower.
