WHEELING, W.Va. – Wheeling edged Point Park by a 1-0 final on Sunday afternoon at Bishop Schmitt Stadium in Wheeling. Wheeling's Antonio Herra-Blackwood scored with an assist from Josh Timbrell in the first minute of the second half to provide the game-winner.
With the win, Wheeling improved to 1-9-4 overall and 1-7-3 in MEC play. Point Park is now 5-7-1 on the year (3-7-1 MEC).
Statistically, the game was evenly matched with Wheeling holding an 11-10 advantage in total shots. Point Park held a 5-3 advantage in shots on goal.
Cheroky Briard recorded two shots on goal for Point Park, while Nils Benning, Dylan Metz and Nathan Lastreto also had high-quality scoring chances in the game.
David Ali played all 90 minutes in the Point Park goal and made two saves on the afternoon.
Wheeling's Carlos Molina earned the shutout in the Wheeling goal. He recorded four saves in the game.
Point Park will return to Highmark Stadium on Wednesday evening to take on the University of Charleston. The game is set for a 5:30 p.m. kickoff.
