Alexis Lamontagne, David Ali, and Mortiz Sarfert to lead the Pioneers

PITTSBURGH, Pa. -- Point Park University men's soccer coach Cameron Williams has named senior midfielder Alexis Lamontagne (Quebec City, Canada), graduate student goalkeeper David Ali (Metz, France) and senior forward Moritz Sarfert (Vaterstetten, Germany) the team captains for the 2024 season.

"These three young men give us balance within our leadership and will further enhance our team first culture," said head coach Cameron Williams. "Throughout the spring period they embodied all the different aspects of what our program has been built on. I am proud to have these three representing the program as captains this fall and look forward to them leading PPU Men's Soccer to new heights as we move toward NCAA DII and the Mountain East Conference." 

Alexis, who transferred in from Old Dominion, appeared and started in 17 games during his first season at Point Park in 2023 as he posted one goal and two assist for four points. Williams stated, "Alexis has an approach on and off the field that sets a standard of excellence for the group. There has been much growth in his game and leadership qualities within his first year. He has great daily habits and has a drive that is a great example for our group of players."

David, who enters his first season with the Pioneers was a Spring transfer from France. He will earn his first set of official minutes this upcoming Fall. When speaking on David Ali Williams said, "David has been a tremendous asset in his work ethic on and off the field, and he is an extremely hard worker, and leads by example. That was apparent from the first training session in the Spring. David is a vocal leader, in anchoring the defense." 

Moritz, who is longest tenured player of the program will enter his fourth and final season with the Pioneers. Currently with a total of 23 goals and 14 assist in his career. He has started 44 of 53 contest for the program. "Moritz has been with me for two years and his growth as a player and leader has improved tremendously. He's a quiet player, but understands the game, and our players see that in him. I'm looking forward to seeing him lead the program this upcoming season," concluded Williams. 

Point Park will have 13 letterwinners from last season's squad, which finished with 19 points with a 6-3-1 River Conference record and advanced to the RSC Tournament semifinal round. In two seasons under Williams, the Pioneers have registered 16 wins with a .513 winning percentage and a .623 River States Conference foes.
