MIDWAY, Ky. -- Point Park University men's soccer earned a 2-1 win at Midway (Ky.) University for a River States Conference road win on Thursday.
The Pioneers improved to 8-3-3 overall and 5-1-1 RSC with the victory over the Eagles (3-11, 2-5 RSC).
Jaume Genovard scored both goals for Point Park to give him seven on the year. Genovard put the Pioneers up 1-0 with his first tally just 13:20 after kickoff. Matheus Lima assisted on the goal.
Midway drew even with Martin Escobar getting an unassisted goal at the 30:49 mark. The score stayed 1-1 through halftime with Point Park holding a slim edge in shots, 8-7, the first 45 minutes.
Point Park had another 10 shots in the second half with Midway getting just four the rest of the way. One of those shots for the Pioneers came from Genovard at the 48:08 mark and ended up being the game-winning goal. Philipp Harder had the assist.
Point Park had 11 of its 18 shots come on goal. Midway goalkeeper Connor Vincent had a productive day with nine saves. Eduard Garcia faced six shots on goal for Point Park and made five saves in 90 minutes.
Point Park's weekend continues with a matchup at WVU Tech on Saturday at 5:00 p.m. The Golden Bears are another one of the top teams in the conference carrying a record of 8-4-2 overall, 6-0-1 RSC.
