Point Park fall at Southeastern (Fla.) to begin weekend in Florida

LAKELAND, Fla. -- Point Park University men's soccer lost at Southeastern (Fla.), 5-2, on Friday night to begin its weekend trip to Florida.

Southeastern (1-0) built a 3-1 lead at halftime to provide a key to the game. The Pioneers (3-1) had been ahead, 1-0, and later cut the deficit to 3-2. But the Fire added on a couple of more after that to put the game away.

Philipp Harder scored both goals for the Pioneers to push his season total to six in four games. He now has 13 points on the year and three games with two goals scored.

Harder scored 4:08 after kickoff to assert the early lead. But the Fire responded with three goals of its own before halftime.

The Pioneers did not go away quietly as Harder's second tally put them within 3-2. It was another goal early in a half with it coming 3:23 after the second-half kickoff.

But a very efficient Fire attack made good on its chance to seal the victory. Southeastern's five goals came on six shots on goal on the night. The Fire had just four shots after halftime and 12 on the night. Point Park had seven of its 10 total shots the second half but could not catch up.

Point Park will continue on its Florida trip Sunday at Warner (Fla.) with a 2:00 p.m. kickoff in Lake Wales, Fla.
