Point Park wins at Michigan-Dearborn, improves to 3-0

DEARBORN, Mich. -- Point Park University men's soccer pushed its record to 3-0 in the early season with Saturday's 2-1 victory at Michigan-Dearborn. The Pioneers scored both of their goals in the first half of the NAIA, non-conference win.

Philipp Harder scored both goals for Point Park to increase his season total to four in three games. It was part of a first half that was all Point Park as the Pioneers led 12-0 in shots the first 45 minutes.

The Pioneers got the first goal in the 25th minute when Alexis Lamontagne chipped a pass to Harder in the box. Harder won the ball, found some room and hammered it to the back of the net.

Point Park earned a penalty kick in the 34th minute, and Harder stepped up to bury it. Point Park ended up with a 16-5 lead in shots for the game.

Michigan-Dearborn did cut the score to 2-1 in the 65th minute. It was one of just two shots on goal the entire game for the Wolverines.

Saturday's win completed a 2-0 weekend trip to Michigan. The Pioneers won at No. 17-ranked Madonna (Mich.), 2-1, on Thursday night.

The Pioneers are off until next weekend when they travel to Florida for a pair of games over Labor Day weekend. Point Park plays at Southeastern (Fla.) on Friday, Sept. 1 and visiti Warner (Fla.) on Sunday, Sept. 3.
