Point Park Golf Opens Play at MEC Championship

 

DANIELS, W.Va. – The Point Park men's and women's golf teams have two individuals competing at this week's Mountain East Conference Golf Championship, which is being played at the Resort at Glade Springs in Daniels, West Virginia.

Men's Update

Tharcisse Kalinda sits in a six-way tie for 15th place after shooting a +5 in the opening round on Monday. Kalinda birdied on holes eight, eleven and sixteen, while going par on eight other holes.

Charleston's William Carestam sits atop the individual leaderboard after shooting three-under par (-3) on Monday. Wheeling's Robin Duzman is in second at -2.

The top three teams on the men's leaderboard are separated by just two shots. Charleston leads at +5, followed by Wheeling (+6) and West Liberty (+7).

In Tuesday's second round, Kalinda will tee off at 8:50 a.m. on hole #1.

Women's Update

Gabriela Wait is competing in the women's tournament and currently sits in a tie for 25th place following 18 holes. Wait shot +26 on the day with a birdie on hole 15 and pars on holes three, five and seventeen.

The top eight players on the individual leaderboard represent the University of Charleston or Glenville State. Charleston's Mari Filippa Larsen is currently in first place after shooting +3 on Monday. The Glenville State duo of Elaina Seeley and Lizzie Bickar are tied for second after shooting +4 in the opening round.

Glenville State (+19) currently holds on 10 shot lead on the women's team leaderboard, followed by Charleston (+29) and Fairmont State (+64).

Wait will tee off at 1:10 p.m. in round two on Tuesday afternoon.
