Kaminsky Named Head Golf Coach at Point Park

PITTSBURGH – Point Park University Vice President of Athletics Scott Swain announced the hiring of Max Kaminsky as the head coach of the men's and women's golf programs. The Point Park alumnus was an all-conference and NAIA national qualifier as a member of the Pioneer men's golf team from 2014-18.

"I am so excited to have Max join our Pioneer Athletics coaching family as our head men's & women's golf coach," said Swain. "Max has so much passion for Point Park University and Pioneer golf as an alum of the program and institution.

"Max also has an extensive playing background in Western PA, which will help with recruiting. As a former golf pro locally, I know our student-athletes will enjoy his personality as well as his golf expertise."

Kaminsky has served as a Golf Professional for two golf resorts since his graduation from Point Park, including Hidden Valley Country Club (Roanoke, Va.) from October 2021 until April 2022, and Indiana (PA) Country Club from April 2019 through October 2019.

He also spent one season as the head men's golf coach at LaRoche University in 2020.

"I am beyond thrilled to come back to my alma mater as the head coach of the Point Park men's and women's golf programs," Kaminsky commented. "I am determined to make both programs highly competitive in NCAA Division II both regionally and nationally.

"I would like to thank VP of Athletics Scott Swain and the entire athletics staff at Point Park for welcoming me aboard. I will always be grateful to coaches Gabe Bubon and Christopher Bowen for how they developed me as a player. I want to make an impact for young athletes as they did for me during my career," Kaminsky added.

More recently, Kaminsky has been a teacher at nearby East Allegheny High School since September 2022.

Following his graduation from Point Park, he earned the USGA P.J. Boatwright Internship in Pittsburgh, working as a tournament business intern for the association.

At Point Park he was a scholar-athlete while earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Sports, Arts and Entertainment Management in June 2018.
