Point Park, Pitt Set for Exhibition Game on Tuesday at Petersen Events Center

PITTSBURGH – Point Park will officially open the 2024-25 season on Tuesday night in an exhibition game against the University of Pittsburgh. The game is set for a 7 p.m. tip at the Petersen Events Center.

The Pioneers under head coach Kevin Reynolds

  • Kevin Reynolds is entering his third season at the helm of the Point Park men's basketball program in 2024-25.
  • In two years at PPU, Kevin Reynolds has a record of 53-10. Under Reynolds, Point Park is 34-3 at home.
  • The Pioneers went 30-3 in 2023-24, winning the River States Conference Regular Season and Tournament Championships and advancing to the second round of the NAIA National Tournament.
  • In Reynolds' first season in 2022-23, the Pioneers went 23-7 overall and finished second in the River States Conference East Division Standings.
  • With 53 wins over the past two seasons, Reynolds has led Point Park to more wins than any institution in the state of Pennsylvania.
  • Reynolds has a career record of 241-119 (.669) as a collegiate head coach. In 10 years as head coach at Slippery Rock (2008-18), Reynolds led the Rock to 188 wins.
  • Point Park's national tournament appearance in 2023-24 was Point Park's first in 17 seasons, as the Pioneers finished with a school record 30 wins last season.
  • Last season, Point Park led NAIA in rebound margin (+13.0), offensive rebounds (15.8), defensive rebounds (33.0), total rebounds (48.8), and ranked top five in blocks (5.4) and fouls (12.7) per game. The Pioneers also ranked 23rd nationally in points per game (85.8) and 12th in defensive field-goal percentage (39.9).
  • Point Park is in year one of the NCAA Division II membership process and will compete as a member of the Mountain East Conference in 2024-25.

 

Returning for the Pioneers

  • Point Park returns six players and two starters in 2024-25. Nathanial Van is Point Park's top returning scorer after averaging 10.6 points, 5.5 rebounds and 1.4 assists per game a season ago. Van shot 40 percent from the floor with 51 three-pointers a season ago.
  • Nazareth Fisher played in all 32 games a season ago and averaged 6.9 points and 8.2 rebounds per game. Fisher shot 62.9 percent from the floor in the post.
  • Jags Jhawar started all 32 games at the forward position a season ago, averaging 6.1 points and 6.9 rebounds per game. Jhawar shot 52.5 percent from the floor.

 

Pioneer Newcomers

  • Sophomore Kaden Warner transferred to Point Park from the University of Rio Grande. In 2023-24, Warner averaged 15.7 points and 1.8 assists per game. He shot 47 percent from the floor and 39 percent from three.
  • Junior Aidan Anderson played in 28 games at Lincoln University a season ago. He averaged 7.5 points and 3.1 rebounds, while shooting 49 percent from the floor and 40 percent from three.
  • Before arriving at Point Park, Nick Marshall spent the 2023-24 season at American University, playing in four games. In 2021-22, Marshall played in 24 games at Loyola Maryland as a freshman. As a freshman, he averaged 1.5 points and 0.8 rebounds per game.
  • Rob Keys transferred to Point Park from Marshalltown Community College in Iowa. In 2023-24, Keys played in 28 games and averaged 13.1 points, 3.7 rebounds and 1.8 assists per game.
  • Brenden Williams transferred to Point Park from St. Petersburg College. In 2023-24, Williams played in 27 games, averaging 15.2 points, 4.0 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game. He shot 41 percent from the floor and 37 percent from three a season ago.
