Point Park Esports earns first Valorant victory of the year in impressive fashion

In an exemplary show of skill, Point Park University esports picked up its first win of the Valorant season against the University of Michigan-Flint on Wednesday, Sept. 27.

The game began on Bind, a map that features two separate teleporters that allow one-way transportation to the different sites. UM-F came out strong, winning the first two rounds of the match. Point Park picked up their momentum, winning the third round, with Sunceri (Aaron Sunceri) getting two eliminations. The Pioneers proceeded to win thirteen rounds in a row, with stunning performances from Sunceri and Kursed (Koleson Smith).

Point Park won the first map, with the score being 13-2.

The second map of the game was Split. UM-F won the first two rounds of the match, then in a brilliant play in the third round, Clarke (Ryan Clarke) amassed 5 eliminations, winning the round for the Pioneers. UM-F made a comeback, winning two rounds in a row. The Pioneers fought back, winning round six, with Creep (Ryan Milazzo) getting 3 eliminations. UM-F was still in the game, winning rounds seven and eight. Point Park won round nine by spike detonation. UM-F had a flawless performance in rounds ten and eleven.

Point Park turned the tide of the game, winning ten rounds in a row. Some highlights from these rounds are Creep getting 4 eliminations in round twelve, Sunceri getting three eliminations in round fourteen, and Clarke amassing 4 eliminations in round sixteen.

Point Park won the match, with the final score of the map being 13-8, and the score of the game being 2-0.

The Pioneers look forward to more electrifying matches in the weeks to come. Their next match is on Thursday, October 5 at 7:00 versus Converse University.
