
Point Park draws No. 3 seed in Waleska, Ga., for NAIA National Championship Opening Rd
WALESKA, Ga. -- Point Park University baseball has drawn the No. 3 seed in the Waleska (Ga.) Bracket of the NAIA Baseball National Championship Opening Round. The Pioneers (41-13) are in the NAIA national tournament for the fourth year in a row and the eighth time in the last 12 seasons.
Point Park is one of four teams in the Waleska Bracket, which will be hosted by No. 1 seed Reinhardt (Ga.) University from May 13-16. The Pioneers face No. 2 seed Jessup (Calif.) (39-9) in their first game on Monday at 2 p.m. ET. The other game that day features No. 1 Reinhardt (38-16) versus No. 4 Keiser (Fla.) (32-21) at 6 p.m.
The winners of Monday's games play on Tuesday night with the losers playing earlier in the afternoon. The double-elimination bracket continues through Wednesday with Thursday if necessary as a play date. The winner of the Waleska Bracket and each of the other nine NAIA Opening Rounds will advance to the NAIA World Series May 24-31 in Lewiston, Idaho.
Point Park is in the NAIA Opening Round as the River States Conference tournament and regular-season champion. The Pioneers are ranked No. 25 in the final NAIA Top 25 Poll of the year. Jessup is ranked No. 12 nationally and is the champion of the Golden State Athletic Conference tournament. Jessup is in the national field for the third time with its first appearance since 2019.
Reinhardt, ranked No. 9 in the country and as one of the 10 national No. 1 seeds, is in the national tournament as the runner-up in the Applachain Athletic Conference and has qualified for the fifth time. Keiser received an at large bid as the third-place team from The Sun Conference while making its fourth appearance. The Seahawks are "receiving votes" in the NAIA Top 25.
