Point Park Men's Soccer Travels to Charleston on Wednesday Evening

PITTSBURGH – The Point Park men's soccer team will play its first road game of the 2024 season on Wednesday evening at the University of Charleston. The MEC matchup is set for a 7 p.m. kickoff.

Point Park Storylines

- Point Park comes into Wednesday's game with a 1-1 record, including a 0-1 mark in league play. Charleston comes in with a record of 1-0-1 (1-0-0 MEC).

- Point Park opened the season with an 8-1 win over Chatham in non-conference play at Highmark Stadium.

- Javier Morejon and Nils Benning scored two goals apiece against Chatham, while Fridolin Gerfoer passed out three assists.

- In Sunday's MEC opener against Concord, the Mountain Lions score two first half goals and held on for a 2-1 win over Point Park. Cheroky Briard was the lone Pioneer to score against Concord, finding the back of the net in the 90th minute.

- Six different players have scored goals for the Pioneers this season.

- PPU goalkeeper David Ali has recorded nine saves through two games this season, holding a 1.50 goals-against average and .750 saves percentage.

- Charleston comes into Wednesday with a record of 1-0-1 (1-0-0 MEC). After a 0-0 draw in its season opener against No. 22 Tiffin, UC defeated Wheeling University, 5-0, on Sunday in the MEC opener for both teams.

- Joao Belmudes leads Charleston with two goals this season, while Nicolai Gundersen has two shutout performances in goal for the Golden Eagles.

- Following Wednesday night's game at UC, Point Park will remain on the road to face Frostburg State on Saturday, Sept. 14 at 7 p.m. The Pioneers will return home on Wednesday, Sept. 18 to host Wheeling University. Kickoff is slated for 7:30 p.m. at Highmark Stadium.
